Who does God say He will give to the Messiah in Psalm 2:8?
God promises the Messiah the heathen, or Gentiles, as His inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as His possession. This gift is the kingdom, not the church or the age of grace, and it could have immediately followed the ascension.
Les explains that after the people of Israel and the Gentiles rejected and crucified the Messiah, God sits in heaven and laughs, inviting the Son back to His right hand. In Psalm 2:5 God speaks in wrath and vexes them in His sore displeasure, which points to the tribulation. Then verse 6 says God has set His king on the holy hill of Zion. At verse 8 God tells the Messiah to ask, and He will give Him the heathen or Gentiles for His inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth for His possession. Les says this is the kingdom, not the church or the age of grace, and it could have immediately followed the ascension.
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
