What sequence does Psalm 2 predict after the Messiah is rejected?

Psalm 2 predicts that after the Messiah is rejected and put to death, God calls Him back to Heaven and sets Him at His right hand until His enemies are made His footstool. Then comes His wrath, vexation, and tribulation, followed by God setting His King upon the holy hill of Zion.

Les explains that this is the same format as Psalm 2: Israel would reject the Messiah, put Him to death, God would call Him back to Heaven, set Him at His right hand until His enemies were made His footstool. The next verse says then will come His wrath, vexation, and tribulation, and the following verse says, “yet have I set my King upon the holy hill of Zion.” All was to flow one right after the other, but God interrupted that sequence when Israel rejected Him at the first Advent. God called Him back to glory, Israel continues to reject, and God sends Him into the dispersion and goes to the Gentiles with salvation by grace, with no connection to Israel’s Law.
