Why does the Christian community need to return to prayer in our day?
The Christian community needs to return to prayer because of the day in which we live; prayer is a basic tenet, and Scripture's example in Daniel chapter 6 shows a faithful prayer habit even when a hostile decree opposed it. Returning to prayer is the needed response for the present time.
Les explains that he is stepping away from the prophetic aspect for one program to talk about prayer. He says that if ever there has been a time when the Christian community needs to come back to the basic tenet of prayer, it is the day in which we live. He takes the subject from the setting in Daniel because he wants to do everything as much as possible according to the Scriptures. In Daniel chapter 6, the decree had come out by the king because those who hated Daniel knew his prayer habits. Unbeknown to the king, they got him to sign a decree that everyone had to pray and bow the knee only to the king of the Medes and Persians, which put Daniel on the outside. Les then directs attention to Daniel 6:10 as the example. So the call is to return to the basic tenet of prayer in the present day, following the Scriptural setting of Daniel.
