What does the number eight symbolize in Bible prophecy?

The number eight symbolizes a new beginning, following seven as the number of perfection or completion. In prophecy, eight souls on Noah’s Ark began a new era after the flood, and the eighth “I AM” in Revelation begins the eternal day. The Antichrist is also an eighth, but he goes into perdition.

Les teaches that the number eight follows the perfect number seven and denotes another beginning or a new beginning. He points to the eight souls who entered Noah’s Ark as the new beginning after the flood. He also notes seven names of deity and seven “I AM” statements in the Old Testament and in John; the eighth “I AM,” the bright and morning star in Revelation, marks the new beginning of the eternal day. By contrast, the Antichrist is the eighth out of the seven, but his end is perdition, not eternal blessing.
