Why will the Dead Sea be full of every species of fish from the Mediterranean in the future?
The Dead Sea will teem with every Mediterranean fish species because living waters will flow from Jerusalem into it when Christ returns. Ezekiel foretold that this river will change the Dead Sea from saltwater to living water, so it will no longer be unable to support life.
Les teaches that Zechariah describes this as happening “in that day,” accompanying Christ’s return to the Mount of Olives, the land of Israel, and Jerusalem. Living waters will go out from Jerusalem, half toward the former sea—the Mediterranean—and half toward the hinder sea, the Dead Sea, in summer and winter. He then points to Ezekiel, who says the river flowing from the throne room in Jerusalem back to the Mediterranean and down to the Dead Sea—and perhaps on to the Persian Gulf—will cause the Dead Sea to have every species of fish the Mediterranean now has. It will no longer be a saltwater sea but living water. Les notes that today nothing can live in the Dead Sea, but that day is coming.
