How did knowledge of the one true God reach ancient Israel?

Knowledge of the one true God reached ancient Israel through God's call of Abraham. Abraham received knowledge of Jehovah, which was then passed down through Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve tribes. As a result, Israel alone, during the period of the ancients, possessed knowledge of the one true God.

Les explains that before Abraham, people knew only various gods—female goddesses, mythological deities, animals, the sun, or the moon—but not the true God. With the call of Abraham, Abraham received a knowledge of Jehovah. That knowledge was then passed on through Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve tribes. Consequently, Israel alone, during the period of the ancients, had a knowledge of the one true God, while all other peoples had nothing but their pagan gods.
