How did the young Daniel respond to Arioch when the wise men of Babylon were to be killed?

Daniel, still a young man, answered Arioch with counsel and wisdom. He asked why the decree was so hasty from the king. Arioch made the matter known to him. Then Daniel went in, asked the king for time, and promised to show the interpretation.

Les points out that Daniel was still a young fellow, without gray hairs or age-based respect, yet he spoke up. He answered Arioch, the captain of the king's guard who had gone out to slay Babylon's wise men, with counsel and wisdom. Daniel asked why the decree was so hasty, and Arioch explained the matter to him. Daniel then went to the king, desired time, and said he would show the king the interpretation. Les emphasizes that this was the almighty sovereign God at work, not human happenstance, and God revealed the secret to Daniel in a night vision.
