Les Feldick Bible Study

Why do people avoid reading the book of Revelation?

People avoid the book of Revelation because it is written in symbolic language, which they find hard to understand. Many are afraid to study it and do not even read it for that reason. Yet Scripture itself interprets those symbols in other places.

Les explains that Revelation is the last book of the Bible and one of three prophetic books written by Jewish men outside the land of Israel. It was written by John from the Isle of Patmos. Like Ezekiel and Daniel, Revelation uses symbolism. Les notes that Ezekiel used the dry bones, sticks, and fiery wheels, while Daniel saw the great image. Because Revelation is all symbolic language, most people are afraid to even study it, cannot understand it, and do not read it. However, Les points out that all those symbolisms are interpreted by Scripture itself in one place or another.
