Why should I read the Book of Revelation even if a pastor says not to touch it?
The Book of Revelation should be read because it is part and parcel of the Word of God, not a book to be sealed or avoided. It is to be opened, takes study, and is thrilling because its prophecies are coming as surely as day follows night, promising blessing to those who keep its sayings.
Les teaches that it is sad when people say they never read Revelation, and he recounts someone whose pastor said he would not touch that book with a ten foot pole. Les asks why not, since it is part and parcel of the Word of God. Though it takes much study, it is thrilling because the prophetic things it reveals are coming as surely as day follows night. John is told not to seal the sayings of the prophecy of this Book but to open them up, for the time is at hand, and blessing is pronounced on the one who keeps its sayings. The book also points to Christ's promise, "Behold, I come quickly," with His reward, and it ties the believer's daily life to the eternal state, where God will not forget.
