How did Jewish people develop their business acumen?

During the seventy years of Babylonian exile, the Jewish people discovered and developed an acumen for business. Babylon is identified as the place where they learned it, and there they became tremendous business people; Babylon was also the source of the entire banking system.

Les explains that two things happened to the Jew during the 70 years in Babylon. First, they were cured once and for all of idolatry; a Jew may be anything but orthodox, but he will never be an idolater. Second, they found out they had an acumen for business. That is where they learned it; in Babylon they became tremendous business people. Babylon was the beginning and source of the whole banking system.
