What did a 1960s university professor propose doing with fundamental Christians?

A 1960s university professor, reportedly at the University of Minnesota, proposed committing fundamental Christians to insane asylums if fundamental Christendom stood in the way of social progress, as a way to reduce their influence. He argued they were not mentally fit for society.

Les explains that he read an article years ago by a university professor, who he thinks was at the University of Minnesota, possibly back in the 60s. This professor advocated that if fundamental Christendom stands in the way of social progress, one way to reduce their influence would be to commit them to insane asylums, because they are not mentally fit for society. Les notes that Hitler and Stalin did that, and now people in America advocate the same thing, saying it is not that far away. He also mentions Christian students feeling pressure in the university environment that to believe this stuff, you have to be some kind of nut. He says sometimes we have to be made aware of what we're up against, though he is not a prophet of doom and gloom.
