Why was the northern kingdom of Israel removed from God's sight and carried away to Assyria?
The northern kingdom was removed because its people walked in all the sins of Jeroboam and did not depart from them, provoking the Lord to anger. He rejected Israel, afflicted them, delivered them into the hand of spoilers, and finally removed them from His sight, so they were carried away to Assyria.
Les teaches from 2 Kings 17 that the northern ten tribes were removed because they persisted in the sins of Jeroboam and did not depart from them. The Lord was very angry with Israel, rejected all the seed of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoilers. He had rent Israel from the house of David when they made Jeroboam king, and finally He removed Israel out of His sight; thus Israel was carried away to the Assyrians.
For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they departed not from them;
Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to Assyria unto this day.
