Who captured the northern kingdom of Israel and took its people away?
The Syrian king Sennacherib, or one of the others, captured the northern kingdom of Israel and took many of its people away. This occurred because the children of Israel had sinned, until the Lord sovereignly removed Israel out of His sight.
Les explains that the northern kingdom's capital was Samaria, from which the Samaritans of Christ's day came. He then notes that the Syrian king Sennacherib, or one of the others, came in and took the northern kingdom captive, and many of them were taken out. This happened because the children of Israel had sinned until the Lord providentially and sovereignly removed Israel out of His sight. Les also draws a parallel to America being at a moral crossroads.
