Les Feldick Bible Study

How far north does the promised land extend?

The promised land extends north to northern Lebanon, beyond Mount Hermon, and on to the great river Euphrates. Scripture describes the border as reaching from the river of Egypt to the Euphrates, including the land of the Hittites, with the Mediterranean as the western coast.

Les explains that the northern border of this promised territory would be clear up in northern Lebanon, not southern Lebanon—way beyond Mount Hermon, out to the Euphrates. He notes the full scope runs from the river of Egypt to the great river Euphrates, all the way down to the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, then across to the river of Egypt, covering the whole Middle East. Moses repeated this, and Joshua repeats it, citing the wilderness and Lebanon to the Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and the Mediterranean as the western coast. Les also teaches that when Christ returns, Israel will have the whole Middle East, and it will not be desert sand but like the Garden of Eden.
