What were the boundaries of the Promised Land promised to Abraham?
The Promised Land promised to Abraham's descendants was bounded by the River of Egypt and the Euphrates River on the east, northern Lebanon or Mount Hermon on the north, and the Red Sea on the south. Scripture also sets the bounds from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines (Mediterranean), and from the Judean desert to the Euphrates.
Les teaches that the territory promised to Abraham and his descendants was not a small strip but the whole Middle East. He explains the boundaries as going all the way from the River of Egypt to the Euphrates River on the east, with northern Lebanon or Mount Hermon on the north, and the Red Sea on the south. Les then points to the verse where God says, "I will set thy bounds from the Red Sea even to the Sea of the Philistines," which he identifies as the Mediterranean, and from the desert—the Judean desert—to the river, which in Scripture is the Euphrates. This vast area was promised to the nation of Israel.
