How far does the land God deeded to Israel extend?

The land God deeded to Israel extends from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great river Euphrates. This promise, first given to Abraham and repeated to Moses, covers far more territory than Israel ever occupied; modern Israel remains only between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean.

Les teaches that God deeded the land to Israel with boundaries reaching from the wilderness and Lebanon all the way to the great river Euphrates. He points out that Moses was not the first to hear this; God first said it to Abraham, and Genesis 15 is where He deeded the land and told its extent. Les explains that Israel never occupied all this land. Under David and Solomon they ventured a little beyond Galilee and a little beyond the Jordan River, but that has been the extent. Even today, the land of Israel is strictly between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean, from a little south of Jerusalem up to the southern border of Lebanon, yet the deeded territory is much larger.
