What future event does the name Jehovah-Shammah refer to?
The name Jehovah-Shammah, meaning “I am there,” refers to the future event when Christ will rule on the kingdom on earth. At that time He will be in Israel’s presence, fulfilling the name’s promise that He is there, personally dwelling among His people.
Les explains that Jehovah-Shammah is the last name mentioned in Ezekiel, meaning “I am there.” He says it goes clear into the future, to when Christ will indeed be ruling on the kingdom on earth and will be in Israel’s presence. Les also notes these names of deity were intrinsic with God’s dealing with Israel, and all the names of Jehovah are wrapped up in the one name Jehovah, who is everything to the nation of Israel.
