How are believers like Israel being brought out of Egypt?

Believers are brought out of Egypt as Israel was: set free from Satan’s shackles and set apart for God. Though the tempter appeals to the flesh, urging a return to the old life when trials come, they are not to believe it.

Les explains that just as Israel was brought out of Egypt, believers have been set free and are no longer under the shackles of Satan; they are set apart for God. He points out that when things got rough, the Jew hankered to go back to the old life in Egypt, and this mirrors the problem with many believers. As soon as things get tough, the tempter comes and suggests they were better off before, but Les warns, “Don’t you believe it,” because that is Satan appealing to the flesh. Les also connects this to reconciliation, which he calls a next of kin to redemption, and notes that God has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus the Christ and given us a ministry of reconciliation.
