How long did Israel's separation from Egypt take?

Israel's separation from Egypt took a three days' journey into the desert, according to Exodus 5:3. This physical separation prefigured the three days Christ spent in the tomb to separate believers from the world. The journey was necessary for Israel to be set apart.

Les teaches that Israel had to be separated from Egypt, and that separation required a three days' journey into the desert, as Moses and Aaron requested of Pharaoh in Exodus 5:3. He parallels this with the three days Christ spent in the tomb to separate believers. Les also points out that Pharaoh, like Satan, would do everything he could to keep his captives from leaving.

Exodus 5:3

And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
