Les Feldick Bible Study

How long was Israel in the wilderness between leaving Egypt and entering the Promised Land?

Israel was in the wilderness forty years between leaving Egypt and entering the Promised Land. The span was forty years to the day. The Passover night in Egypt and the Passover celebrated under Joshua after crossing the Jordan fell on the same day and month, forty years apart.

Les teaches that God's timing is exact, never a day late or a day early. He explains that exactly 430 years after Abraham was brought out of Ur, the Passover night occurred in Egypt, and there was to be a 40-year span from the time Israel left Egypt until they finally entered the Promised Land. That span was 40 years to the day. Les further notes that the Passover night in Egypt and the Passover 40 years later, when Joshua led them across the Jordan River, fell on the same day and the same month of the year.
