When is God's saving power released to set us free from sin?
God's saving power to free us from sin is released when we believe the gospel: that Christ died, shed His blood, was buried, and rose again. Until that belief, the power cannot be released from God. The preaching of the cross is God's power to those being saved.
Les explains that the preaching of the cross is foolishness to the unbelieving world, but to those who are saved it is the power of God. He stresses that it takes the power of God to save us and set us free from the shackles of sin, and that power can never be released from God until we believe the gospel that Christ died, shed His blood, was buried, and rose again. He also notes this truth will reappear when getting back to Exodus and repeats it purposely for emphasis.
