What does Colossians say Jesus is?

Colossians declares that Jesus the Christ is the visible manifestation of the invisible God. This truth connects with the wider scriptural teaching that the triune God speaks and creates through the Son, who is appointed heir of all things and through whom God made the worlds.

Les teaches that Colossians identifies Jesus the Christ as the visible manifestation of the invisible God. This fits with Hebrews 1, where the triune God—the eternal, sovereign God—spoke in times past through the prophets but in these last days has spoken through His Son. Les explains that the last days in Scripture run from Christ's birth to the end, not just the closing days of the age. He notes that creation is attributed to God the Son, Jesus Christ, for Hebrews 1:2 says God appointed Him heir of all things and made the worlds by Him. Les then connects this to Exodus 3, where the Lord speaks to Moses and there is a constant change in the names of deity.
