What did God do in Genesis 15 to transfer the land to Abraham?
In Genesis 15, God transferred the land to Abraham by descending to man's level and personally carrying out the ancient rite of real estate transfer, deeding the whole Middle East to Abraham. This act served as Israel's deed, confirming the covenant promise that Abraham's descendants would inherit the land.
Les teaches that in Genesis 15 God literally descended to man's level and went through the very rites of transferring real estate, just as people did in antiquity. Jehovah came down and actually carried out the rite of real estate transfer, deeding the whole Middle East to Abraham. This passage, from verse 12 to the end, is called Israel's deed. God also gave prophecy in verse 13, telling Abraham his seed would be strangers in a land not theirs and serve them four hundred years.
