Why were Moses’ parents not afraid of the king’s commandment according to Hebrews 11:23?
Hebrews 11:23 states that by faith Moses’ parents hid him three months because they saw, or understood, that he was a proper child. Consequently, they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. Their faith was grounded in that perception of the child.
Les explains that Hebrews 11:23 is part of the great faith chapter. He reads that by faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months by his parents because they saw, or understood, that he was a proper child, and consequently they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. Les then moves to verse 24, where by faith Moses, when he came to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He also connects this to the Exodus account, where Pharaoh’s daughter took the child, nursed him, and he became her son, and she named him Moses because she drew him out of the water.
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.
