Can our English Bible translations contain errors?

Yes, English Bible translations may contain minor errors since they are translations. The claim of being without error and perfect applies to the original writings, not translations. However, God has been jealous of His Word and has not permitted gross error, only perhaps a word or two or a number here or there.

Les explains that although the Word of God is accurate and God does not lie or make mistakes, our Bibles are translations. Therefore, they may contain a little error here and there. The statement that the Word of God is without error and perfect refers to the originals. Yet God has been jealous of His Word and has not permitted gross error to come in. There may be a word or two, or a number that could very easily have lost its original through the process of translating, but you can believe it. He also urges people to believe every word of the book even when some things seem hard to put together or almost illogical.
