Why are people turned off by Christianity?
People are turned off by Christianity because they are destitute of faith. They no longer believe the Bible is the Word of God. Having become intellectual and scientifically minded, they demand proof, but God is sovereign and does not have to prove anything. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.
Les teaches that the same principle operating in Esau’s life operates today. Esau, even if morally better than Jacob, could not be used by God because he had no faith. Likewise, people are turned off by Christianity and want nothing to do with spiritual things because they are destitute of faith. They can no longer believe that the Bible is the Word of God. Having become so intellectual and scientifically minded, they say that unless these things can be proven, they cannot believe them. But Les points out that God does not have to prove anything; God is sovereign. He has spoken it, and He has every right to expect mankind to believe it. Consequently, Scripture says that without faith it is impossible to please God, just as Esau could not please Him.
