What happened to Jacob after he got the blessing through his mother's scheme?

After Jacob got the blessing through his mother’s scheme, he had to flee. This occurred 37 years after Jacob had taken the birthright from Esau at age 24, and the context presents fleeing as the consequence of conniving with his mother to obtain the blessing.

Les explains that when Jacob and Esau were 24, Jacob got the birthright by selling that bowl of red bean soup, and there was no enmity created from that at the time. Then 16 years after Jacob took the birthright, Esau married Canaanite women, which was a grief of mind to Isaac and Rebekah. Les points out that it was actually 37 years from the birthright until Jacob connived with his mother to get the blessing; after that, Jacob had to flee.
