Why would heaven be full of boasters if salvation were by works?

If salvation were by works, heaven would be filled with people constantly recounting what they did to arrive, making it an awful, boring place where others would avoid them. Boasting would be unavoidable under works, but God excludes boasting through the law of faith and grace, salvation being faith plus nothing.

Les teaches that if we could get to heaven on works, heaven would be the most awful place on earth, because you would constantly listen to somebody telling you all that he did to get there. It would be boring; you would see someone coming down the golden street and cross over so you would not have to hear him again tell all that he did. So salvation cannot be by works. It has to be totally by the finished work of the cross. Les points out that boasting is excluded, not by the law of works, which would bring boasting in, but by the law of faith and grace, which leaves no room for boasting. Salvation comes by believing, faith plus nothing, so that God can be just and the justifier of the one who believes in Jesus.

Romans 3:27

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
