What did the tabernacle furnishings picture?
Every furnishing depicted Christ in His work of redemption. The Ark of the Covenant, candlestick, altar of incense, table of showbread, labor of cleansing, and brazen altar all pictured Him. Together they portrayed the complete redemptive work Christ accomplished by His death, burial, and resurrection, which is propitiation.
Les explains that everything depicted in the tabernacle experience—the material used, the furniture, the Ark of the Covenant, the candlestick, the altar of incense, the table of showbread, the labor of cleansing, and the brazen altar—was a picture of Christ in His work of redemption. He ties this directly to propitiation, defining it as the complete, overall work that Christ accomplished by His death, burial, and resurrection.
And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof, and a cubit and a half the height thereof.
