What did the tabernacle and its furnishings picture according to Les?
Every aspect of the tabernacle and its furnishings pictured the work of salvation Christ accomplished at the cross, which is called propitiation. This included His high priestly work, the shed blood of the sacrifice, and His intercession in the Holy of Holies, a work sufficient for the sins of the whole world.
Les teaches that every detail of the tabernacle—its composition, the gold, the silver, the stones, and all the rest—was a picture of the work of salvation Christ accomplished at the cross. He calls that whole work propitiation. It included Christ's work as high priest, the shed blood of the sacrifice, and His interceding in the Holy of Holies. Les says this tremendous work of propitiation is still appropriate and was done not for our sins only, but for the sins of the whole world. He also contrasts that with someone promoting that Christ died only for the believer, saying his Bible says Christ died for everyone, though not everyone will be saved because not everyone will appropriate it; the potential is there.
