What did Philip preach to the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:35?

Philip opened his mouth and began at the same Scripture, preaching unto the eunuch Jesus, not Christ crucified. The eunuch's confession was that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, period. This message aligned with what Peter understood, before the fuller revelation given through Paul.

Les explains that in Acts 8:35 Philip did not preach Christ crucified, as we might assume. Instead, beginning at the same Scripture, Philip preached unto him Jesus. The eunuch then confessed, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God,” not that He died for him and rose again. Les points out this was in perfect accord with what Peter understood—that Jesus was the Christ. Only later, in Paul's writings, do we find the message “we preach Christ crucified,” because that truth had not yet been revealed as gospel. Philip's preaching centered on Jesus as the Son of God.
