Why did Jesus stop reading Isaiah before the day of vengeance?

Jesus stopped because the Old Testament prophetic program would be interrupted shortly after His ascension. The day of vengeance and the kingdom would not come until a later day, after the church is completed and the bride is complete. The 490-year schedule reached 483 years at the crucifixion, then God's clock stopped.

Les explains that Jesus stopped where He did because He knew the Old Testament program was going to be interrupted at some point shortly after His ascension. The day of vengeance would not come in, and the kingdom would not come in, until some later day. Les uses the analogy of God's time clock: there were to be 490 years of God's dealing with Israel before the king and the kingdom could come in; 483 years culminated with the crucifixion, and then God's clock stopped. It will not pick up again until it is time for the church to be completed and the bride is complete, and then the final seven years can come in. This interruption was for the purpose of calling out the bride of Christ, completing the body of Christ, taking it out of the way, and then continuing on with the prophetic program.

Isaiah 61:2
