Why is the Gentile bride/body of Christ not found in the Old Testament or Gospels?
It was a mystery, a secret kept in the mind of God. The Old Testament and Gospels contain no hint of the Gentile bride of Christ or body of Christ; everything there is promises made to Israel. Psalms chapter 2 outlines the Old Testament program and gives no hint of this hidden calling.
Les explains that Psalms chapter 2 is an outline of the Old Testament program. In it, and anywhere else in the Old Testament or even the Gospels, there is no hint of this mystery—this secret kept in the mind of God—of what is called the Gentile bride of Christ or the body of Christ. Everything in those Scriptures has been promises made to Israel. By contrast, Paul’s letters reference Christ as the head and, using the analogy, the husband, while the body of Christ is His virgin bride. That is why Paul admonishes believers to live in purity and separation, so they are not the adulterous wife of Jehovah as Israel was. Psalms 2 begins with the heathen raging and Israel imagining a vain thing, showing useless activity by Jew and Gentile alike.
