Who is the Bride of Christ?
The Bride of Christ consists of all believers of the Church Age who have been placed into the body by the Holy Spirit. This consortium includes only the saved, for no unsaved person is baptized by the Holy Spirit into Christ's body. Thus the Bride is the true Church, not merely church rolls.
Les explains that the Bride of Christ will be that consortium of all the believers of the Church Age, who have been placed into the body by the Holy Spirit. He contrasts this with church membership roles, noting that many church members may be unsaved because we cannot look on the heart; only God can. But into the body of Christ there are no unbelievers; no unsaved person is ever baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body. So the criteria is not only having names written in the Lamb's Book of Life, but being baptized into this body by an act of the Holy Spirit. That guarantees eternal destiny, and it happens when one believes the Gospel. Les emphasizes that all attendant aspects of salvation—forgiven, redeemed, justified, translated, reconciled, glorified—occur at the same time, and we take these by faith, claiming them despite the devil's doubts.
