What do Psalm 89:36-37 teach about David's throne and the coming kingdom?

Psalm 89:36-37 teaches that David's seed and throne will endure forever, established as the sun and moon and a faithful witness in heaven. This points to the coming kingdom where the Messiah will reign as King, and church-age believers will rule and reign with Him.

Les explains that the kingdom promised to King David would be extended by Solomon but interrupted; over time it will become a viable reality. God the Son, the Messiah, will become King, and it will be a glorious kingdom. In Psalm 89:36-37, the psalmist writes that David's seed shall endure forever, and His throne as the sun before God, forever, and it shall be established forever as the moon and as a faithful witness in heaven. Les says this is the coming kingdom. He then connects it to Paul and John in Revelation, teaching that when this kingdom is finally set up, church-age believers will be part and parcel of that kingdom by ruling and reigning with Christ.

Psalms 89:36
