Why does man move from one set of circumstances to another in God's program?
Man moves through changing circumstances so God can demonstrate and teach him step by step the various aspects of human behavior, showing what man is and cannot do without God’s direction. God Himself never changes; the changing circumstances reveal man’s failure and need for something new.
Les explains that man moves from one set of circumstances to another not because God had to change—He never changes—but to show how man, step by step, must somehow be shown and taught the various aspects of human behavior. This takes time. For 1,600 years man was without formal worship and without a written law, and he proved he could not exist that way. By the end of that period, violence filled the earth, it was corrupt, man had completely turned against God, and it was a flop. So God would destroy them with the waters of the flood and then come up with something totally different.
