What is the best way to ask someone if they are a Christian?

Instead of asking directly, "Are you a Christian?", ask, "If you were to die tonight or tomorrow, on what basis do you think God would let you into His heaven?" This question is described as the perfect way of putting it and exposes what a person trusts.

Les teaches that rather than simply asking someone whether they are a Christian, the better approach is to ask, “If you were to die tonight or tomorrow, on what basis do you think God would let you into his heaven?” He explains this is the perfect way of putting it because it produces as many different answers as there are people. Some will say they are doing the best they can, keeping the commandments, joined the church, are good members, give, are good parents, or are good citizens. But Les says these are things that seem right unto a man, and the end thereof is death. He also contrasts this with religious people, such as a good Muhammadan who may be moral, pray, and read the Koran, yet is not going to make it, because such people are doing what seems right to men but are far short in the eyes of a holy God. Les adds that the Bible never speaks of religion in a good way; usually religion is used in a bad sense.
