Why is the gospel hidden from those who are lost?
The gospel is hidden from the lost because the God of this world, Satan, has blinded the minds of those who do not believe. He does this so the light of the glorious gospel of Christ should not shine unto them. Believers, by contrast, know the gospel.
Les explains that Paul refers to this as “our gospel,” and says if that gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost. It is not lost if you are a believer, because you know it all too well. In verse 4, the lost of this world are those in whom the God of this world has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ should shine unto them. Les identifies the God of this world as Satan, who is in charge of the kingdoms of this world and will promote good as well as evil until the day he is finally removed as the God of this world.
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
