Will the coming Kingdom be on earth or in heaven, and who will be King?
The coming Kingdom will be on the earth, though it is described as Heaven on earth. Christ Himself will be the King, reigning in the midst of Israel. This earthly Kingdom will fulfill Israel’s earthly promises, while the heavenly people, the Body of Christ, have their own distinct calling.
Les explains that the Old Testament consistently presented this glorious Kingdom as earthly, yet it will be Heaven on earth because Christ will be the King. The King is in the midst of Israel, and they are offered entrance into the earthly promises that will come to fruition. Les also notes that Ephesians 1:10 indicates this could not happen until the Gentile complement, the Church, was completed. Then everything comes under Christ’s headship: the earthly people of Israel with their earthly Kingdom, and the heavenly people, the Body of Christ.
