Who will rule and reign over the future kingdom on earth?
Christ will rule and reign over the future kingdom on earth. This kingdom, promised since Abraham, is the one over which He offers Himself as King. The Old Testament describes it graphically, and the twelve were instructed to pray for it. Christ, the Messiah and Branch from Jesse and David, will one day reign.
Les explains that the kingdom promised ever since Abraham is the one over which Christ offers Himself as King, and it will be here on the earth. He notes that the Lord's Prayer request, 'Thy kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven,' is asking for this earthly kingdom, though many churchgoers utter it without understanding. Les points out that the idea of going to heaven to spend eternity contradicts Scripture, because heaven is going to come down on earth. In Isaiah 11, Les shows graphic descriptions of this kingdom on earth, over which Christ will one day rule and reign. He identifies Christ as the Branch from the stem of Jesse, David's father, a reference to the Messiah.
