Where did our system of courts and law come from?
Our system of courts and law originated in Rome. The Roman Empire was the first to establish the principle that a person is innocent until proven guilty, and that legal framework has persisted. This Roman system of law was later incorporated into the final world empire.
Les explains that after Greek philosophy, architecture, and literature remained with us, the Roman Empire arose. The primary thing from Rome still with us today is our whole system of courts and law, which began in Rome. Rome was the first empire to declare a man innocent until proven guilty. That is why Paul appealed to Rome or Caesar, knowing Caesar's courts gave him a fair chance to be proven innocent and released. Roman law, along with banking and interest and Greek culture, will be incorporated into the final empire. At Christ's coming, the image is destroyed, and His kingdom fills the whole earth.
