What gives you the abundant life?
Having wisdom together with good common horse sense gives the abundant life. God freely gives this abundance to believers, and it is appropriated by faith, not by groveling, climbing steps to St. Peter, or crossing the ocean. Faith pleases God and opens the way to His blessing.
Les explains that if you have wisdom and with it good common horse sense, you have the abundant life. God has given all this to believers freely—without groveling in the ground, climbing steps to St. Peter, or crossing the ocean. It is abounding, more than we can handle. Les asks how we appropriate it: by faith. He says he doesn't always feel or sense it, but returns to the Word and believes it. That is what God looks for; the more we believe, the more He blesses, because faith pleases God, while unbelief is held in the strongest light. Having appropriated His grace, we abound in wisdom and prudence. The problem in Christendom is a lack of that kind of wisdom—many may be saved but flounder in ignorance of the Scriptures.
