Why does God reveal things to us and our children?
God reveals His previously secret things so that we and our children may know and do all the words of His Law. He also makes known the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, purposed in Himself, because everything begins and ends in the mind of God.
Les teaches from Moses that the secret things belong unto the Lord our God, and a secret is something nobody else knows anything about. But the things God reveals are given unto us and our children forever, so that we may do all the words of this Law. Moses wrote under the Law, yet he dealt with the same God we deal with, who has kept things secret until He saw fit to reveal them. Les then points to Ephesians 1:9, where God has made known unto us the mystery, or secret, of His will, according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Himself. Everything starts and finishes in the mind of God. Les also turns back to Romans 16:25.
The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
What is a basic principle for understanding when God reveals things in His Word?
A basic principle is that God has the prerogative to keep things secret and reveals them only when He is ready. He does not reveal everything all at once, but at the right time. This applies to understanding His Word, as seen when even the Twelve did not understand until He revealed it.
What happens to the things that are revealed?
The things that are revealed are made known to us and to our children forever, so that we may do all the words of the Law. They are given by revelation, while secret things remain with the Lord our God.
