Why does God keep some things secret and when does He reveal them?

Because God is sovereign and absolute, He has every right to keep things secret as long as He chooses. He reveals them only when He is good and ready, and not until. What He reveals then belongs to His people so they may obey it.

Les explains that God is sovereign, absolute, holy, and righteous, yet also loving, kind, merciful, and patient. He is not an easygoing grandfather to be manipulated. In His sovereignty, He has every right to keep things secret as long as He wants, and He will reveal them when He is good and ready, not until. Moses wrote in Deuteronomy that the secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law. Les points out that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New, the same secret holder we deal with today, even though responsibilities differ.
