What happens when a believer reflects the righteousness of Christ among lost people?
When a believer is discipled and goes among the ungodly world reflecting Christ's righteousness, he will have an impact on lost people. They will ask what they must do to have what he has, opening an opportunity to tell them to believe Christ died and rose for them and be saved.
Les explains that Paul did not write to the unsaved world, though he had a heart for them. Paul knew you do not win the lost by screaming and preaching at them; you win the lost by discipling the believer. When the believer is discipled and goes out among an ungodly world, reflecting the righteousness of Christ, he will have an impact on lost people. They will then ask, 'What must I do to have what you've got?' That is the opportunity to tell them: believe that Christ died for you, believe with all your heart that He rose from the dead, and you will be saved. The Bible promises it. Les also clarifies that 'only believe' does not mean superficial mental assent but honest, wholehearted faith—especially believing that when Christ died, He died for me, and when He rose, He rose to give me resurrection power. That is faith, and by it alone we enter the relationship Paul expounds. He writes to the saints and faithful in Christ Jesus.
