Does the Bible teach original sin, or is our only problem our own sins?

The Bible teaches original sin and the fall; it does not limit humanity’s problem to individual sins. Scripture says otherwise than the claim that no original sin exists. Paul’s Romans 5:12 is the passage cited for this doctrine, written for the church age and the age of grace.

Les explains that he once heard a preacher claim there is no such thing as an original sin or the fall, and that our only problem was sins per se. He notes that others have argued the same since then, but the Bible says otherwise. To correct that view, he returns to Genesis, where the account says he did eat, and says that the moment he ate, many things happened. He then directs listeners to Romans 5:12, emphasizing that when Paul writes, this is particularly in tune with the church age, the age of grace. Paul is the apostle of the Gentiles, so Gentiles should turn to him for basic doctrines.
