What does First Thessalonians chapter 4 say will happen to believers?

First Thessalonians chapter 4 states that believers will be caught up to meet Him in the air, and so shall they ever be with the Lord. This takes the Word up to glory, pointing to the fruition of everything, when believers will finally be in glory with the Crucified, Resurrected, and Ascended Lord.

Les explains that First and Second Thessalonians move to a higher plane than the prison epistles because the Word takes us up to glory. In First Thessalonians chapter 4, he points out that believers shall be caught up to meet Him in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord. He connects this with Second Thessalonians chapter 2, where after the departure of the church the wicked one is revealed. These letters point to the fruition of everything, when we are finally in glory with our Crucified, Resurrected, and Ascended Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:17

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
