Why can't you just do everything the Bible says?

Not everything the Bible says is for us, because most of it was written for the nation of Israel. The commands meant for the present time are confined to Romans through Philemon, so attempting to do everything literally ignores that scriptural division.

Les explains that many people claim they will simply do what the Bible says, but that position fails because not everything the Bible says is addressed to us. He notes that from Genesis 1 until the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, God was predominantly dealing with Israel. After Israel continued to reject Christ through the crucifixion, God raised up Paul as the Apostle of the Gentiles and spokesman for God during this period. Les says the Scriptures meant for us are confined to Romans through Philemon, since even Hebrews is written primarily to Jews. He uses Leviticus 5 as one example of commands that were not given to us, showing you cannot do everything the Bible says all the time.
