Les Feldick Bible Study

What would a community look like if everyone lived by the fruit of the Spirit?

A community where everyone lived by the fruit of the Spirit would be marked by love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. These fruits produce an abundant life that enhances relationships, and against such things there is no law. It would be a great place to live, unlike the pandemonium and police blotters of a flesh-ruled society.

Les explains that the fruit of the Spirit is the result of the Spirit's work in the believer, in contrast to the works of the flesh listed earlier. He divides the nine fruits into three segments of three: first, love, joy, and peace are the inner results of salvation, showing that we are not saved just as a fire escape but to have life abundantly. Paul says against these things there is no law, meaning nothing can oppose them. Les then asks whether it would be great to live in a community where everyone lived this kind of life, rather than one practicing the works of the flesh, which he describes as pandemonium with police blotters full of such people. The fruit of the Spirit enhances life and relationships, producing an abundant life that stands in stark contrast to a flesh-ruled society.
