How should Christian liberty be used instead of satisfying fleshly lusts?

Christian liberty must never become an opportunity to gratify fleshly lusts. Instead, believers are to exercise it through God-given agape love, which consistently seeks the other person's highest good in practice, even when that requires selling themselves short for that other person.

Les explains that agape love is deeper than mere fondness, as seen when Peter cut back and said, “I phileo you, I am fond of you.” True agape love is seeking the other person’s highest good, and in practice it means always trying to seek that other person’s highest good, even if we must sell ourselves short. So rather than use Christian liberty as an occasion to satisfy the lusts of the flesh, believers are to let that God-given agape love rule. Les also points out that all the Law is fulfilled in one word, and he urges comparing Scripture with Scripture, such as Paul’s writing in Romans 13, so we do not claim it doesn’t mean what it says.
